Call for Special Session Proposals

The series of BIBE Conferences was found in 2000 and BIBE is the first leading Conference of its kind in IEEE/Internationally inspiring others to follow its path. The 19th annual IEEE International Conference on Bioinformatics and Bioengineering aims at building synergy between Bioinformatics and Bioengineering/Biomedical, two complementary disciplines that hold great promise for the advancement of research and development in complex medical and biological systems, agriculture, environment, public health, drug design. Research and development in these two areas are impacting science and technology in fields such as medicine, food production, forensics, etc. by advancing fundamental concepts in molecular biology, by helping us understand living organisms at multiple levels, by developing innovative implants and bio-prosthetics, and by improving tools and techniques for the detection, prevention and treatment of diseases. The BIBE series provides a common platform for the cross fertilization of ideas, and for shaping knowledge and scientific achievements by bridging these two very important and complementary disciplines into an interactive and attractive forum.

Proposals for Special Sessions

The IEEE BIBE 2019 organizing committee invites proposals for special sessions to be held in conjunction with the conference. Special sessions within IEEE BIBE 2019 will feature invited talks from leading researchers covering recent trends on a specialized topic. All submissions in special sessions will be required to follow the 1-page abstract format and will not be included in the IEEE Xplore Conference Proceedings. However, authors interested in publishing their paper in the IEEE Xplore Conference Proceedings, may submit, in addition to their 1-page abstract, a 4-page paper, following the corresponding guidelines and deadline for full-length paper submission. Slightly different titles should be used for the two submissions. A typical special session will consist of 6 invited talks and will be scheduled under a Conference Theme and Track with a 90 minute time slot during the conference. Each paper will have a 12 minutes oral presentation slot, while a panel discussion on all presented papers will take place at the end of the session.

The organizer(s) of approved special sessions are responsible for advertising and distributing the call for papers, gathering submissions, and conducting the paper review process. Please note that the page limit is 4 pages in IEEE double-column format for workshop papers. A Special Session proposal must include:

  • Title of special session
  • Aim and objectives
  • Short CV and contact details of the organizers
  • Provisional list of the paper titles and presenters (anticipated number of papers)

For more details, please refer to the example.
